Thomas Bauer, Project Planning and Project Management in Plant Technology:
How long have you been working at RUBIG?
In 2002, after completing compulsory education, I started an apprenticeship as a Plant Fitter, which I completed in 2006.
What is your career path so far?
After completing the apprenticeship, the business trips kicked off. These took me to major cities such as Tokyo, Shanghai, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Dubai etc., where I installed plasma nitriding systems at customers’ sites. In 2011, I began the sandwich course at the HTI in Mechanical Engineering and Operations Management in Linz. After 4 intensive years, I successfully completed this in summer 2015. At the same time, I changed over to the Project Management Department in 2013, where I was given the job of pre-calculating the systems and project management.
Which highlights do you remember?
The first one I can think of is a special project with a company where I was Project Manager. There, we implemented automation for the first time in combination with our nitrating systems. As a technician, assembling the industrial cleaning system was an exciting challenge due to the size of the overall system. Aside for the projects, the other highlights are contact and collaboration with the various cultures especially China and the Arabic Emirates.
What is special about RUBIG as a company?
RUBIG is still a genuine family business. In Plant Technology, the cooperation and the working atmosphere is very pleasant.
What do you see as your next goals?
The next medium-range goal will be support in Technical Sales. In the long term, I aspire to a management position in the company so that I can realise my visions and ideas in the company.
